"I've just come back from a holiday in Nice in April and it was a lovely city. The airport was not far in a taxi but the taxi was quite expensive so I would advise getting the bus which is only €4 whereas the taxi was €40.
There is a train that takes you on a forty minute ride around the town which is €7 and woth it for the really nice sights. We also went on an open top bus tour which was initially €20 but we managed to barter with the bus driver as we were in a group of 12 and got on it down to €17; that was another good trip as the bus takes you right up to the top of Nice and once again the sights are amazing.
The restaurants were lovely, especially in the Old Town where buskers play music, which makes for a lovely setting when sat down with a nice glass of wine. Soft drinks are quite expensive and I would say it is cheaper to drink alcohol although we didn't see any bars where we were. There are restaurants everwhere with lovely chioces on the menu; I would reccomend Flo Nice Restaurant, an old theatre where the stage is the kitchen. It was €34 for three courses and half a bottle of wine which for I thought was very reasonable.
We also got the tram followed by a train to the Casino in Monte Carlo. It was very easy as trams run every few minutes and trains, depending on where you're going, run about every hour. The Casino was brilliant but I did feel a little out of place at first as there were some very posh cars parked outside! We played on the slot machines as the tables had a minimum bet of €40 but it was good to watch the men and women with a lot of money playing; it was just like something out of James Bond.
I found the staff in the shops and restaurants very helpful and friendly and I would reccommend Nice to couples or groups wanting a sightseeing and relaxing break. I went on a Hen-do and it was great laugh!"

Nice is a fabulous city with loads of sights to see and places to discover. We went for a long weekend and thought it was the perfect place to visit. The city is lively and exciting with great shops and a fantastic nightlife; however there is also a more traditional side with Vieux Nice, the old town being a lovely place for an evening stroll with plenty of cafes and bars. We stopped for a drink in one of the squares, Place Rosetti, and thought it was a great spot for people watching!
We were trying to visit Nice on a budget and found this easy to do. For example the airport is really close to the town, so we decided against a taxi and used the bus. They were really clean and efficient and at only 4 Euros we had already saved some money! When dining out you can also save money by drinking the local wine, which can be ordered in pichets. The wine I sampled was lovely and was nearly half the price of bottles listed on the menu.
Finally, a lot of the attractions won’t cost you a penny, you can stroll along the famous Promenade des Anglais and watch the street entertainers, or visit the Colline de Chateau which sits high above the city and has breathtaking views right across Nice.
